So the best thing of my life is happening this week! So it's the 4th of July right? And I love the 4th of July! And I am in the states!! So that's great, and to make it even better Canada day is July 1st, and we get to be in Winnipeg on Canada day!! We are driving to Winnipeg early on Wednesday to meet the new mission President and his wife at a conference, which me and Sister Brimhall are singing at, and then we are staying until Thursday to do exchanges there because the work is a little slow in I falls!
So I have always thought of missionary work as being finding investigators and teaching them, and that would pretty much sum it up. What I have found in my short time of being here is that that is not always the case...And in the Canada Winnipeg mission it is often not the case. But I have realized that missionary work is doing the work of Christ, and yes he found and taught tons of people! But he also listened, helped, and healed. On Wednesday we went over to the Kawulia's who are a little member family who is composed of a single mom and her two daughters. We go over and teach and visit and help them quite a bit and they are the best! Like mostly out of control, but they are hilarious, and through their crazy you can still feel the spirit in their little trailer which is great. So we stopped by to share a little quote and ended up visiting with them and then the two daughters left to go to a friends, and literally like 10 seconds after they left the mom just broke down...and she told us her life story basically and everything that had happened to her, and her whole life has been so hard! She has been abused over and over again and has had so many unfair things and we sat and listened and cried with Sister Kawulia for 4 whole hours..She is always so strong for her kids and doesn't really have anyone to ever vent too. But anyway my point is that in the 4 hours with Sister K I just felt like even though it was not your usual missionary work, I was doing something that Christ would have done if He was here. And so even though sometimes this little branch seems hopeless and like there isn't anything we can do to help..It made me feel much better to know if nothing else we can be someone who can really listen and try to comfort Heavenly Father's precious children in I falls.
So still have yet to teach an investigator but we did go and talk and share some things with Dianna and Angelica who are former investigators! They are a grandma and granddaughter, and angelica the GD has Several palsy and she is super frustrated with her life and God because of her situation so we just ended up doing a lot of listening there too. Which is good!
At the Library being kicked off love you all!!
