Hello everyone! So Winnipeg was the best! President and sister Craig are so amazing. They brought the spirit with them so dang strong, and I'm so excited to be working under them! While I was in Winnipeg I got to experience Poutine, bubble tea, and all things Canadian! Haha it was great. On Canada day this Polynesian family fed us and it was the most delicious food I have ever had, and the best part was that they get offended if you don't go back for more like 80 times so I had so much of it! Haha so I would invite you to make friends with some poly's real soon and you won't regret it when they invite you over to eat ;) Elder Blackburn is a Zone leader over the sister's we did exchanges with so I got to go to lunch with him and the sisters and it was so fun! And he even bought my lunch! So Grandma Elja tell Bishop Blackburn that Dakota is a great missionary and every one loves him here! And that I say thanks for the lunch..because I'm sure he is the one who really paid! Haha Exchanges were a good time. We went and talked to a lady in the hospital who only has 6 months left to llive..it was so sad :( But she was much happier after we left, so it made me feel good!
We got to be in the Parade on the 4th of July! For ruby's pantry that we volunteer for, they help feed the hungry and stuff. And we had a branch BBQ that evening, so funny story...Dianna and her Grandaughter (Our former investigators we are teaching) came and Dianna who is a little nuts brought Iced tea and started asking if anyone wanted some and brother Frark who keep in mind is a former Branch President, said he wanted some. So she pours him a glass and then a Lady who is a recent convert says " you can't drink that! It's against the WoW!" And Dianna says " Anything in moderation is fine, this is not going to hurt anyone" So Brother Frark looks at them and shrugs his shoulders and starts drinking it! and then everyone goes off saying how if that's the case where is the Beer?! Haha and me and the other missionaries are like what the heck!! And so we tried explaining that is was against the W.o.W but it was just awkward...the pitcher was also half empty when we were done so more of the members drank it too! Haha so that gives you a little piece of I-falls.
So on the drive home from Winnipeg we listened to a talk by Jeffery R. Holland called "Lesson's from Liberty Jail" and I love it so much! I have been on a serious Joseph smith kick lately. He is the best! But anyway everyone needs to read it!! And then let me know what you think. But I just feel so blessed to have the knowledge of a loving Heavenly father...And that even though like Jospeh, we sometimes feel like asking God "Where art thou?" We can know that He is right where He always has been, by our side's! In the talk Elder Holland says "If you are having a bad day, you've got a lot of company-very, very good company. The best company that has ever lived!" We have to remember that "Man's extremity is God's opportunity" and that if we stay close to our Father in heaven all the time, that we can and will become better people through the good and especially the bad..eh? ( I can say that because I was in Canada this week) haha Have a good week!!
